haste makes waste 欲速则不达

这个英语谚语的本意是性急导致浪费(时间，金钱)，haste是指匆忙，急忙，waste 是指浪费 实际上是指一个人做事情的时候，如果太着急，反而往往做不好，需要重新再做一边，浪费了时间和金钱。

有意思的是西方的这句谚语和我们东方的儒家思想有着同样的阐述：孔子向其即将要到外地做官的学生子夏嘱咐说： "无欲速，无见小利。欲速，则不达；见小利，则大事不成。"

这段话的意思是：做事不要单纯追求速度，不要贪图小利。单纯追求速度，不讲效果，反而达不到目的；只顾眼前小利，不讲长远利益，那就什么大事也做不成。
